TRANSFER News : Gallagher takes decision on leaving Chelsea amid interest from EPL rivals

Conor Gallagher, a midfielder for Chelsea, has ruled out the possibility of leaving the team during the January transfer window, despite rumors that Tottenham Hotspur, a Premier League rival, is interested in signing him.

Gallagher was promoted to vice captain by manager Mauricio Pochettino, but his future at his childhood club Chelsea seems very much in doubt.

Chelsea knows that selling a homegrown player would result in pure profit on their balance sheet, as they need to balance the books following their record-breaking spending binge under their new owners.

According to reports from the previous weekend, talks about a possible £50 million deal have already begun between the Blues and Tottenham, who nearly signed the England international during the summer transfer window.

The Evening Standard claims that the 23-year-old is eager to stay with Chelsea and will likely reject any offer to leave the west London team in January.

The most recent events will undermine Chelsea's ambitions to sign a new striker. Pochettino's team intended to use the proceeds from Gallagher's sale to finance a move for either Victor Osimhen of Napoli or Ivan Toney of Brentford.
